The challenge

You source from India. Your CBAM bill arrives 2026. You have no idea which suppliers cost you what.

From January 2026 every tonne of Indian steel, aluminium, cement, or fertiliser landed in the EU carries a carbon-border bill. Without verified producer-level data you fall to EU country defaults — the worst-case assumption. On a 50 kt HRC programme that's the difference between roughly €0.7M and €18M per year, depending on the supplier. Multiplied across a portfolio it's a number nobody on your team has put a name to. Halant does.
What you get

Actionable, audit-defensible numbers per producer.

Plant-attributed scorecards
Emissions intensity, CBAM cost gap, and route-aware EU benchmark math for each producer and product family. Capacity-weighted where a producer runs more than one plant or route.
Three confidence tiers
Tier A (±15%) for producers with audited public emissions statements. Tier B (±30%) for producers with plant-level emissions plus Indian regulatory cross-check. Tier C (±50%) where country defaults apply.
Route-aware benchmark math
Article 31 free-allocation deductions applied per production route (blast furnace, direct-reduced iron, electric arc, scrap), weighted by plant capacity. India country defaults from Regulation 2025/2621 Annex I wired verbatim.
2027 scenario already modelled
Every scorecard carries a forward-looking gap under the 2027+ scenario where the EU prices captive electricity at producers. Multi-year contracts protected against the regulatory cliff before it lands.

Five licence types

One dataset. Five buyer workflows.

Pick the licence that matches how your team actually uses supplier carbon data. Annual licences, quarterly refresh, methodology walkthrough included.
01
Procurement
For EU procurement directors negotiating annual buy plans with Indian suppliers. Full coverage of producers in your sourcing categories, supplier-panel verification on demand, audit-defensible documentation for procurement counsel.
02
Advisory portfolio
For CBAM advisory firms serving multiple importer clients. Portfolio-wide access to the full producer database, supplier panel mapping per client engagement, white-label methodology citation.
03
Tube intelligence
For EU buyers of premium and downstream tubes from India where Climate TRACE does not separately track downstream specialists from upstream HRC. Scorecards on every named Indian premium-tube specialist plus their upstream feed.
04
Raw feed
For boutique sourcing consultancies and analyst teams building their own models. Full CSV and JSON exports with quarterly refresh, schema documentation, no licence-bound visualisation layer.
05
Trading
For EU metals trading desks pricing Indian-origin cargoes. Plant-attributed intensity per producer, CBAM cost gap at current EU ETS pricing, route-mix breakdowns to defend a bid.
On pricing. Annual licences priced at the scale of an industry-report subscription, not a full enterprise data feed. We send a quote with the buyer brief, scoped to your licence type and the size of your buying panel.
Two ways in

Start with the brief, or test the panel.

The buyer brief is a single PDF — methodology, coverage, sample scorecards, and a quote tailored to your licence type. The supplier panel verification is free: send us up to 5 Indian supplier names and we return a sample CSV in 24 hours.
